Automated driving is expanding across Europe countries and streets, see European Commission news. As deployment grows and regulations evolve, the need for scalable, safety validation has never been greater.
Having worked for many years on automated driving V&V across multiple European R&D projects, and recently experiencing the progress of Generative AI, I’m excited to share a very interesting EU AI BOOST Challenge just officially open:
📈Generative AI for Automatic Test Case Generation from Crash Databases & Standards
We invite researchers, startups, SMEs, and innovators across Europe to tackle a real industrial challenge: Can Generative AI automatically transform European accident databases, crash reports, videos, maps, and international safety standards into structured, simulation-ready test scenarios? The goal is to bridge the gap between real-world traffic accidents and simulation-based validation, helping engineers identify critical scenarios, validation gaps, and ultimately accelerate the development of safer autonomous driving systems on European roads 🛣️ .
Funding opportunities:
🏆 €28,500 for each of the five Spark Phase winners
🏆 €100,000 grand prize for the winning team
Participants will work on advanced GenAI topics, i.e. LLMs, multimodal AI, knowledge graphs, agentic AI.
The participants will receive technical guidance and feedback from the AI-BOOST consortium, together with support from experts at Siemens, the RobustifAI project, IGLAD (https://iglad.org/), VUFO (https://www.vufo.de/en/), and other ADAS leading experts. You will also have access to resources, optional HPC, and the opportunity to present at the AI-BOOST Final Event in Brussels.
